The Thief by Fuminori Nakamura

The Thief is about a man in Tokyo working as a pick-pocket for the fun of the thrill until he gets caught up with some big time criminals. The book was semi-thriller and semi-literary with nice introspective moments scattered throughout. This slim novel also features a twisted mob boss that has some messed up ideas about playing with fate.

I listened to the audiobook version within a 24hr period because I needed to know what happens. Unputdownable.

It’s not a perfect book and there are some cheesy elements but overall, it was fun and pretty different to any other novel I’ve read this year.
